The Man

Casey Skudin epitomized what it meant to be a Hero and the ultimate family man. He was an adoring and doting husband to love of his life Angela, a loving and devoted father to Ben and CJ, an incredible cousin and nephew, and a friend to all, whether he knew you or not.

With a highly decorated career in the FDNY spanning 16 years, and as a lifeguard for the Town of Hempstead for over 20, Casey spent his life serving others.

The Story

On June 17 2022 at 3:43 pm, while on a much anticipated family vacation in honor of his upcoming 46th birthday, which would have been on Father’s Day, Casey’s life was tragically cut short when a tree fell on the family and their vehicle, injuring his children and killing him instantly.

Due to Casey’s training and split-second instincts, he was able to veer the car enough to spare the lives of his family, knowing that he would bear the brunt of the impact. The devastation and pain of Casey’s loss to his family, friends, and anyone who ever came into contact with him has been indescribable.

Having died prior to completing 20 years of service with the FDNY, his family has been left to pick up the pieces and move forward without the security of his presence, benefits or pension.

Whether it is through alternative and holistic healing modalities to support mental health challenges, or short-term financial assistance, First Responder or their family will be left behind during their times of crisis and need through this Fund.

Casey was a lifesaver to many during his time here on earth. Through his fund, he continues to do so from the other side, guiding us every step of the way and continuing his mission to ensure all First Responders and their families have access to what they need in times of crisis.

Casey lived a life of honor, bravery, service, accomplishment and duty. His legacy to inspire, support and save lives will continue.
